Happy Children’s Day 2021: Images, Quotes, Wishes, Messages, Cards, Greetings, pictures and GIFs

Children’s Day is here and it’s time to bring out the child inside all of us! Not that on most days we shouldn’t, but considering everything that goes on around us, it becomes quite tough to get out of the responsible adult avatar and let go of all worries and stress.

Simply spending time with children can improve a lot of things for us. We see the world from a different, simple perspective and things begin to look less complicated. Innocence, blithe ignorance, love, spontaneity and freedom are the principal qualities that we associate with little ones and children are living examples of the most spontaneous form of existence.

To learn from them is an even greater achievement than teaching them. However, Children’s Day isn’t about just celebrating children. It is also about knowing the reason behind celebrating this day; its significance and the way it is celebrated.

To mark the birth anniversary of the great leader Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the nation celebrates Children’s day on 14 November every year. Nehru was a great advocate of children’s education and development, for he believed that children were assets on whom the future of the country depended. His love and adoration for children led to him being called ‘Chacha Nehru’ by children.

His fondness for them was duly reciprocated and he was adulated by children and adults, alike. After his death in 1964, the Indian parliament passed a resolution declaring Nehru’s birth anniversary as Children’s Day, instead of the Universal Children’s Day which was hitherto celebrated on 20 November declared by the United Nations. The day is also a reminder as to why we need to focus on children and ensure that every child, regardless of their economic, social or political background, deserves a safe and fulfilling childhood which involves all basic amenities including a place to put up at, education, healthcare and sanitation.
